PGID: Progressive Guided Inversion and Denoising for Robust Watermark Detection

Read the original on arXiv Computer Vision →

PGID: Progressive Guided Inversion and Denoising is a training‑free, plug‑and‑play framework that protects semantic watermarking in diffusion models from imprint removal and forgery attacks. It restores detection reliability by projecting perturbed latents back to their original regions through progressive inversion‑denoising cycles, eliminating intermediate deflections and mitigating adversarial perturbations. Extensive evaluations show that PGID successfully recovers removed watermarks and identifies forged instances across multiple schemes.

Exploring Weaknesses of Generative Image Watermarks against Latent Frequency Masking

The paper introduces Latent Frequency Masking, an attack that removes or weakens invisible watermarks in AI-generated images by altering selected Fourier coefficients in the latent space. It demonstrates that this method can effectively compromise six diffusion watermarking techniques while maintaining image quality and running faster than existing attacks. The study provides a theoretical distortion bound and evaluates the attack on images from DiffusionDB and MS-COCO prompts.

WaveMark: Robust Wavelet-Domain Image Watermarking for Diffusion Models

WaveMark introduces a wavelet‑domain watermarking technique that embeds messages into the initial noise of diffusion models, distributing keyed replicas across spatial positions, wavelet orientations, and scales to enhance robustness. The method encodes each carrier with a randomized bit via magnitude projection of four latent channel coefficients, yielding a clear decoding margin. Experiments on SD2.1 with SDP and MS‑COCO Captions show perfect bit accuracy without attacks and over 88% accuracy against state‑of‑the‑art removal attacks, outperforming existing baselines while preserving image quality.
