MOSS-Video-Preview: Toward Real-Time Video Understanding via Cross-Attention

Read the original on arXiv AI →

arXiv:2606. 07639v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Video understanding is shifting from the offline paradigm -- taking a fully recorded video as input and producing a single answer after it ends -- toward real-time interaction, in which the model perceives new frames while still replying, revises its answer as new evidence appears, and remains silent when there is nothing to say.

Temporally-Grounded Language Generation: Towards Real-Time Vision-Language Models

The paper introduces Temporally-Grounded Language Generation (TGLG), a benchmark that tests vision‑language models on their ability to produce semantically accurate and temporally precise utterances in real‑time settings. It identifies perceptual updating and contingency awareness as key capabilities, curates datasets from sports broadcasting and egocentric interactions, and proposes the TRACE metric to jointly evaluate semantic similarity and temporal alignment. The authors also present VLM‑TSI, a model that interleaves visual and linguistic tokens in a time‑synchronized manner, achieving better performance than a strong baseline yet still showing modest overall results, underscoring the challenge of real‑time VLMs.

Moment-Video: Diagnosing Temporal Fidelity of Video MLLMs on Momentary Visual Events

arXiv:2606. 02522v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Video multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have made rapid progress on general and long-form video understanding, yet their ability to preserve brief answer-critical visual evidence remains underexplored.

OneStreamer: Unifying Perception, Memory, and Proactive Response in Streaming Video Interaction

OneStreamer is a streaming video model that jointly learns to record evidence and respond to tasks through a shared proactive generation process. Its Proactive Hierarchical Caption Memory creates time‑grounded local‑detail captions and event summaries, while Proactive State Transition Learning reduces waiting states by supervising all output anchors. The authors also built a large OneStreamer‑1M dataset and show that a 4B model outperforms baselines on eight streaming video benchmarks, with ablations confirming the benefits of generated captions and PSTL.

video-SALMONN-R$^3$: Learning to ReWatch, ReAsk, and ReAnswer for Efficient Video Understanding

arXiv:2606. 24477v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Video large language models (LLMs) are often constrained by computation and memory budgets, leading them to use reduced frame rates and spatial resolutions, which may cause them to miss critical information for question answering (QA).
