DeepAffinity: Long-Term Aspect Preference Prediction in eCommerce using Small Language Models

DeepAffinity is a model designed to predict eCommerce users’ future preferences for product aspects such as brand, size, and color, treating this as a temporal prediction problem. It uses small language models with structured prompts and specialized prediction heads, outperforming standard generative fine‑tuning and general‑purpose open‑source LLMs that lack task‑specific tuning. The approach improves recommendation quality on a large multinational eCommerce platform.

From Gradient-Boosted Trees to Deep Recommenders: Practical Lessons from Migrating a Production Customer Support Recommender

The paper documents the migration of a live conversational recommendation system from a gradient‑boosted multiclass model to a pairwise‑binary deep recommender. It explains how reformulating the task, using negative sampling, noise injection, and attention pooling over transcript chunks enabled the new model to handle dynamic, multimodal data and long conversation context. The authors compare several architectures and loss functions, showing that the deep recommender matches or surpasses the CatBoost baseline, especially in later conversational stages.

Dual-Interest Sequential Product Recommendation With Multi-Granular SSM

The paper introduces DSRec, a dual‑interest sequential recommendation model that separates item representations into long‑term and short‑term semantic contexts. Long‑term embeddings capture stable preferences through historical aggregation, while short‑term embeddings focus on local session intent modulated by inter‑click time intervals. Each branch is processed by a distinct State Space Model— a full‑sequence Mamba for long‑term modeling and a time‑modulated SSM for short‑term dynamics— and a residual cross‑fusion mechanism aligns the two granularities while preserving their independence. Experiments on public benchmarks show that DSRec outperforms state‑of‑the‑art methods.

LIGE-GR: A Smooth Leap from Ranking to Generative Recommendation in the LLM Era

LIGE‑GR is a framework that transitions traditional ranking‑based recommender systems to a generative, listwise approach inspired by large language models. It extends existing pointwise recommendation models into a listwise generation system, enabling sequence‑level optimization without overhauling the entire infrastructure. Experiments on Instagram Reels and Facebook Video show modest gains in user time spent—1.14 % and 0.72 % respectively—while adding only slight inference overhead.

MiCRo: Mixture Modeling and Context-aware Routing for Personalized Preference Learning

MiCRo is a two‑stage framework that improves personalized preference learning for large language models. It first uses a context‑aware mixture model to capture diverse human preferences from large binary preference datasets, then applies an online routing strategy to dynamically adjust mixture weights based on context, reducing ambiguity. Experiments on multiple datasets show that MiCRo captures diverse preferences and enhances downstream personalization.
