The paper introduces RIVET, a method for multi‑turn large language model routing that uses post‑call responses to train two value estimators: a deployable Routing Value Estimator that operates on pre‑call information, and a training‑only Response‑Informed Value Estimator that also observes the actual response. By conditioning on the response, RIVET turns response‑induced return variation into an observable covariate, reducing asymptotic estimation error. Experiments on the MINT benchmark show that RIVET solves more held‑out tasks than the strongest baseline while cutting total call cost by 74.7%.

arXiv:2607. 27083v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: As LLM agents increasingly depend on diverse external services such as search engines, databases, and connectors, agent harnesses face a fundamental tool-selection challenge: acquiring too few tools leaves the task under-informed, while too many adds cost, context load, and privacy exposure.

The paper demonstrates that in open‑weight LLM inference markets, selecting a model is insufficient; clients must also choose a provider, as the same model can differ markedly in quality, latency, availability, and price across providers. The authors propose a market‑aware routing approach, including a measured‑map policy and an online router called FACET, which certifies provider feasibility for each task and safely falls back to a reliable anchor. Experiments show that this strategy yields cost savings while maintaining quality and avoiding degraded endpoints.

COMPASS is an agentic router that uses a capability-oriented model profiling approach to select large language models (LLMs) efficiently. It follows a routing recipe, gathers performance and cost evidence through tools, and can inspect candidate answers before making a selection. In evaluations on LLMRouterBench and DeepSWE, COMPASS improves accuracy while reducing model‑call cost compared to specialized and trained routing baselines, and it can adapt to new models without retraining.
